You'll Need Marvel's Spider-Man 2's Digital Deluxe Edition for Those Extra PS5 Suits

Probably going to get sold as DLC down the line anyway.

They're some of the worst designed Spidey suits I've ever seen. Literally no loss whatsoever.

In the original Spider-Man on PS2, you could unlock Green Goblin as a playable character through gameplay. Bloody horse armour in Oblivion set us on this path.

I'll just stick with the regular edition of the game, there's likely a lot of suits to unlock anyways.

Yeah sorry I used to give Sony the benefit of the doubt but this is just way too Bungie for me. Not cool, scummy, preying on your loyal players type of stuff

For PS4 spiderman we got a physical commemorative pin mailed to us. Spiderman 2 costs more and comes with this... 😬

There will be so many unlockable costumes through gameplay I don't think this is really a big deal. Also the ones locked behind the deluxe edition are fairly ugly.

Thankfully none of those suits appeal to me so I'll stick with the standard edition. I'm not really too bothered generally when a cosmetic item is a pre-order bonus...but I got to say 10 different suits being locked like that is a bit excessive.

I can't stop myself from buying the deluxe edition of games anyway so it makes no difference to me.

On the other hand, I am getting better at waiting until games drop in price before I buy them. My backlog is so absurd that waiting won't really hurt me much even though I am really looking forward to this one. Who knows, maybe I will change my mind between now and the time it comes out.

I never really expected them to be available through the normal game, from my experience deluxe or collectors edition content is usually premium content that isn't available in the base game.

What extras do I get when I don’t buy the game? Asking for a friend…

There will be so many suits in this game (probably 80+) that I honestly don't care.

we can be glad that Sony is not (yet) starting to offer the suits in an ingame shop for real money. similar to what Ubisoft does with Ass Creed.

Couldn't care less. I almost always reverted back to classic costumes in both og and Miles Morales. I think a lot of the extra costumes are kind of ugly. There's a novelty in them existing, but there's a reason they aren't the costume we see regularly in the comics/movies.

@JSnow2 They have been doing this for years. Both Horizon games, Returnal, Ratchet and Clank, both God of War games, Demons Souls, Days Gone and more all had content locked behind the Deluxe versions.

Even if they weren't ugly, I could care less. It's pretty ridiculous, but I will never pay for cosmetics, nor will it get me to buy the game digitally.

Well, ain't that bad.. compared with FF16, $20 for digital booklet and music... you don't like it, you can't afford it, you hate it, do not buy it until it'll in be in "game pass", haha... I'll get the deluxe version mainly because of some perks but the main reason is to support more "PS5 exclusives" with all the "I've got every controller under the sun but I ain't feel nothing, just like my heart", and else... so people, you do not like it, then you do not buy it and perhaps your life is better...

This game looks pretty cool, not going to lie.. Defo not worth full price though. Will wait for a massive sale

I don't get the grumbling. It's not like these are the only suits added to the game, so you will still get new suits, these are just a bonus to people who want to pay for more.

Finally some good news.

I'm mixed on this. I like the idea of being able to unlock EVERYTHING the game has to offer just by buying the game and playing. But many games sell cosmetics out there. So while I do think its a somewhat bad practice it is in the back of the line in terms of how much outrage I have for it.

@MFTWrecks like infamous and other games 3 years after release they mostly will throw in the dlc for free.
Probably right after they go live on psplus.
They also did this with 2018 god of war.

@BeerIsAwesome they probably won’t need to be, usually they just include a Deluxe Upgrade pack (designed for the physical versions) as an option at launch, that’s how you’ll get it.

It's just cosmetic, that's how it all started. Maybe in a couple of years we'll get a live service spider-man games, Spider-Man 76? Lol

Firstly, I wouldn't have bought the digital deluxe edition, because it's digital. And secondly, the suits all look like crap. I'll stick to the standard suit this time around.

@AdamNovice - That would be something. I'd play this with the Last Stand suit.

I still remember the farce with the incendiary grenade in Resistance. It really annoyed me and later insomniac made it free but only for the NA region which fuelled my rage even more.

I suppose I should let it go after more than a decade but it still pees me off, along with that bloody 10k killing machine trophy.

Tbh I usually end up sticking with one or two suits most of the time. Always find my favourites. So decided against the deluxe personally. Now.. if they decided to do some kind of Carnage suit for Peter, that would look cool and I probably would have got that.

I'm good. Kind of burned out on cosmetics to the point I don't care how dumb my character looks.

Why do pre-order bonuses sound like pre-order bribery?

People want to pre-order because they want the product on release day.

Carving up bits of the game like this, however small, is just silly. And, of course, the skins will be available to purchase separately for real money. Of course, it's 2023, paying £70-90 for the game isn't enough. They need an extra few quid on top.

If you're buying this digitally they're already making a killing on the sale, given there's no physical product to create and logistics to sort.

Added this version to my wishlist will maybe get it next year in the sales after I've finished the other 2 games.

Edit: 3 games as I want to complete the remaster as well.

Good thing is suits are awful. I would be really sad if they were good looking. On the other hand I am dissapointed about no story DLC down the line; CTNS was fun. Well, as long as game is jam-packed I will be happy. Possible GOTY so far.

Optional stuff is optional, but for some reason I’m still angry! Simple, if you want it, you buy it; you don’t want it, you don’t buy it. I don’t want and I won’t buy. Not mad at Sony, or any other gaming retail company, that are essentially companies that sell things. This is not a new concept.

@Jacko11 I won’t exactly call the naysayers clowns but yeah, what’s the complain about? You have to buy optional stuff and if you don’t buy it it doesn’t affect the game in any way. This is such a non-issue.

I will stick with the standard edition.

Not that any of those suits look good, they're f-ugly quite frankly and I'm finally getting my classic white spider symbiote suit.
But they are REEEALLY trying to push people to digital as much as possible.

Suits exclusive to the DIGITAL Deluxe Edition. No physical game in a COLLECTORS edition.
And now some games aren't getting physical releases at all. Or physical copies delayed in favour of digital.

They're trying to push physical folk like myself to digital kicking and screaming. And until physical no longer exists that ain't happenin' Sony.
Still very scummy to punish you for a preference though. But hey, profit.

I don't care whatsoever. So long as my comic book/animated suits are still in there that's all I care about.

We've been on a slippery slope for a while now. We used to buy one game which had the full game and everything you could unlock was all included in the price.

I understand people need to make a living but stripping content and selling it piecemeal like with seemingly everything these days , It just makes me wait for whichever game to go on sale with the extras.

Ride out the fomo and you will save £30-£50 each time with the prices of the special editions. It's a no brainer in a single player game.

I might be in the minority, but after seeing them all, I do not like any of the extra suits. Maybe I'm just too attached to the defaults (or the comic/mcu costumes, if they're still in), but they look a bit too overdesigned and un-Spider-Man to me. I'm honestly fine not having any of these. Just give me some cool Spider-Verse, MCU, and comic accurate suits, and I'll be happy.

@GeneJacket That's most likely my issue with these suits as well, specifically for Peter's because instead of being simple there's a lot going on with them that it looks bad.

I don’t mind spending the extra bucks, and I’m not normally one to do so, I’m just a huge fan of Spider-Man and I like the designs. I just hate how it’s digital only.

@Deadlyblack You will find the answer on how people react with the classic "just cosmetic" without realizing wayback they paid less for more, they are the reason why you pay more for less.

I didn't like any suits that didn't make me look like a proper Spiderman, but this still sucks for those that like to try them all.

Thanks but no thanks. I’m fine with whatever the standard physical edition comes with, when I get it, likely on sale. I’ll probably pick up the season pass too, but beyond that? I don’t need anything else.

@twinspectre90 You mean WAY back, when we paid anywhere from $60-$100 for games that were 3 hours long, had no unlockables, and zero replayability.

@twinspectre90 Dude...this is a 40-60 hour game, a few extra costumes add nothing of actual value and are only there to prey on the collector mentality for people who feel like they need EVERYTHING. They're not extra missions, there's not more story or a bigger map, it's JUST costumes. If you want to pay extra for what is essentially nothing, go right ahead, but don't talk trash on people who don't care to actually spend more for less.

Eh I played both SM1 and Miles with the base suits. They fit the story the best.

@GeneJacket See? people forget that these 60hours isn't fully gameplay, it might also be cutscenes, forced follow the npc part (because the npc must talk to to you), QTE for that "WOW factor".
Instead of saying "free content is good" these people say "no free content", this is why you can't have good stuff in today's gaming.
