@Kidfried @nessisonett I’m completely an uneducated layperson regarding the tech industry, but I have enough insight to know that there’s a lot of inaccurate statements and ill-informed armchair managers that make some ridiculous statements.

I don’t follow them closely but everyone always defers to Digital Foundry for some of the technical detail. I can only assume they know what they’re doing over there. But as far as the business side of things, I definitely agree that a lot of popular websites and gaming journalists seem shockingly ignorant of the industry. Push Square staff are very well grounded and make a great balance of newsy type of reporting and research, occasional industry analytics, dabbling slightly into technical aspects, but keeping the fervor and laid back nature of a fan site replete with outlandish rumors from time to time and stuff like weird Japanese commercials and viral Twitter stories when they apply.

The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

@Kidfried @nessisonett Oh interesting that you mention this. because I have like taught about this about lot to. Its interesting really how little that is shared about game development and decisions given the massive scale of industry these days. I think most game related writing you see these days are very much focused on game reviews and news articles, not necessarily going into other areas. I mean I think there a lot more to cover. I for example remember that used to be some paper magazines here in Sweden that wrote quite excessively about upcoming coming games, interviews etc. Now I guess its mostly Edge magazine and Famitsu that do this kind of stuff hehe.

While it can sound strange I have some unpublished written materials, stuff that I have worked on about games but have hesitated about publishing for various reasons. Also because I understand that self promotion is forbidden here I have been careful not to publish or promote my game related blog hehe.

@Th3solution Oh yeah the writing on this site is I think in general very good.. All the journalists here seems to be great.

@ManifoldCuriosity Total nonsense!!!

JRPGs get praised on here all the time - Ni No Kuni, Trails of Cold Steel, Ys, Nier, Persona, FF7 Remake, Dragon Quest. All of these have been over 8/10.

Sammy has been very positive about 16 in previews, although less impressed with the most recent one. I expect this to score at least 7/10, but I would not be surprised at an 8 or 9/10 either.

It’ll get what it deserves, or close to, I have no doubt. If it’s a 6 then that’s fair enough.

I've nipped to the spar round the corner and am ready for SGF will be tucking into Paprika crisps, Munchies and washing it down with Irn-Bru 😀. Hopefully Geoff brings the goods.

@ManifoldCuriosity I'm going to say 8 for Pushsquare maybe a 9 but 9 from others. Not fussed about reviews, I'm excited for it and will be playing on release day!

Day of the devs made me really excited for the future, SGF not so much. I’m not sure if I’m just too jaded but almost everything shown looked pretty generic and samey, not to mention that utterly terrifying Nic Cage character model for Dead by Daylight.

A certain ATLUS announcement(s) just got leaked via their Instagram. Not gonna show it here for obvious reasons but good lord someone is absolutely getting fired into oblivion 😭

Quite impressive that in a 2 hour show, there wasn’t a single woman on the stage. Up there with the time Geoff made the world’s most insincere statement about abuse in the industry and then immediately followed it with David Cage’s new Star Wars game.

As a more positive counterpoint, the evening stoked my excitement for a fair few titles across both shows (devolver was too late for me) Some admittedly only announced Steam releases but we can dream.

Alan Wake II (i was already on board for this one)
Lies of P
Under the Waves
Simpler Times
Viewfinder
Hauntii
Henry Halfhead
Cocoon
Été
Summerhill
Mars first logistics
Salt Sea Chronicles

@AgentCooper Day of the Devs was like an instant switch to what the industry’s actually like for a large number of devs complete with a much more diverse group of guests. Geoff’s shows are corporate so attract the corporate guys. Some great games were showed off there as well, Baby Steps by Bennett Foddy looks great and I’ve been following his stuff since the Flash game days.

@nessisonett To be fair, I don’t know know why I even watch SGF/TGA I’m always underwhelmed. Day of the Devs is always where I’m most excited about the medium. Baby Steps looks truly fantastic, the kind of irreverent fun I’m looking for. I’m kicking myself looking at my 2022 list though as most of the games I liked the look of have only made it to Switch and I sold mine in January 🤦‍♂️

@Bentleyma I'm actually so unbelievably excited for this it's been a long time since a game has got me looking forward to a release! I will be picking this up straight away, Ragnarok I was excited for but I even waited for Christmas for that one, this one I just can't wait for.

And I hear your progress from the Demo carries over, I very rarely try Demos but I'll be jumping on this tomorrow! I've made sure that I've finished all my story driven games so I can concentrate on this, I even held off buying Diablo IV so I didn't have any other distractions 😅

Got the demo downloading now, hype!

Currently killing demons and obsessing over numbers in Diablo IV.

I just found out PMG made this amazing documentary about the Disco Elysium and everything that has happened there since the game's release. It's weird how the story surrounding the implosion of ZAUM in itself kind of became Disco Elysium 2... but without the jokes.

It's diffiicult to make sense of it all.
